This course will review key concepts and provide practical training using simulated scenarios of BLS. The ALS training is conducted with veterinary-specific simulation software coupled with a high-fidelity canine simulator mannequin. Completion of the Rescuer BLS/ALS live-training modules takes approximately 6 hours with an assessment simulation included at the conclusion of the hands-on workshop. Participants will be provided with:

Advanced Hematology Workshop: Dissecting the Data & Blood Film Review

The CBC is discussed as a single test, when in truth it is comprised of 20-25 different values, as well as important details about cell morphology to complete the picture. Understanding each component of the CBC, as well as the associated cytograms produced by our current automated hematology analyzers, is essential to sensitively and accurately diagnose and trend disease. Beyond the CBC report, the microscopic blood film review provides even further critical details about cell morphology to better understand the numerical data and clinical picture. In this case-based session, we will take a deep dive into hematologic analysis of real cases for which appropriate interpretation of the CBC, cytograms, and blood film changes are key to understanding disease and case management. Attendees will be engaged with polling questions and group exercises to ensure they leave more confident and with essential diagnostic information immediately useful in everyday clinical practice.
