Maintenance of Certification

Maintenance of Certification

Since ABVP’s inception, we have required maintenance of certification every ten years. Before you officially start the submission process, please take a moment to review the MOC Handbook. MOC points can now be uploaded at any time!

It is STRONGLY recommended that it be done throughout the year for each year of the 10 year cycle.

Actually, this new platform makes it almost impossible not to maintain your specialty status with a directed focus on continued learning, self improvement, and encouraging support of our organization. And your MOC vice-chair is there to watch, guide, and monitor your progress along the way ensuring success!”
Anthony A. Pilny, DVM, DABVP (Avian Certified) Avian Vice Chair, Maintenance of Certification

Journal Club

Journal Club (JC) is a mandatory part of MOC. There are six journal articles with corresponding five question quizzes each year. Over the 10 year cycle, a passing grade of 80% is required on 66% of posted articles/quizzes (e.g. 4 of 6 quizzes per year). Note: Articles and quizzes disappear 1 year after posting. Do NOT wait until the last minute. Do you want to chat with fellow Diplomates about the journal article? Contact ABVP if want to be added to JC Slack channel!

“I applaud the decision to start the Journal Club.  I have enjoyed the articles and the quizzes are helpful. Good work!”
James Schulze, DVM, DABVP (Equine Practice)
