Position Summary: The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences of the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications to become a part of our team in emergency medicine and community practice. The fulltime clinical instructor will spend 45% of his/her time seeing emergency cases as well as providing primary case management of emergency and ICU patients, this portion of the appointment includes day time, evening duty and weekends on a rotating basis. 25% will be dedicated to provide laboratory instruction in the DVM curriculum and the remaining 30% will be dedicated to seeing patients in the community practice in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. In addition, the successful candidate will provide consultation to clients and referring veterinarians seeking emergency care for their animals. Applicants must be committed to excellent patient management, client service, and clinical teaching. Teaching will primarily be focused on clinical instruction to DVM students assigned to the emergency service and community practice but will also include teaching and supervision of interns and residents working in the emergency service and community practice.

The Department of Clinical Sciences in the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants to fill two full-time, non-tenured, 12-month appointments as Small Animal Emergency Veterinarians at Auburn Veterinary Specialists in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This new referral center will provide internal medicine and surgical care for small animals, and will later expand to include emergency services. The referral center will participate in the educational mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine, providing focused clinical instruction to senior veterinary students, interns and residents and continuing education programs for veterinarians. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have demonstrated an interest in emergency medicine and surgery and in advanced patient care. Initially, clinical responsibilities will include after-hours care and management of hospitalized animals. Responsibilities will expand to include the management of emergency cases once the service is opened. Members of the veterinary faculty must contribute to a team environment, engage productively with referring veterinarians, and collaborate with colleagues on the main Auburn University campus.
