Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists is seeking a 3rd associate to join our growing Avian & Exotics department. Board-certification through ABVP (Avian, Exotic Companion Mammal, or Reptile/Amphibian) or ACZM is preferred, but board-eligible candidates will also be considered. The Avian & Exotics department is one of sixteen specialty practices, including surgery, internal medicine, critical care, cardiology, diagnostic imaging & nuclear medicine, radiation & medical oncology, dermatology, dentistry & oral surgery, ophthalmology, neurology, anesthesiology, rehabilitation & fitness, sports medicine, behavior, and emergency. Our multi-disciplinary approach and collaboration with the specialists in the rest of the hospital allows us to offer the best care available to the non-traditional species in the Gulf Coast region.
Our state-of-the art hospital is equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, rigid and flexible endoscopy, a 64-slice CT, 1.5T MRI, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, linear accelerator, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. ABVP Canine/Feline Specialty Residency
The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech invites applications for a 2-year ABVP residency training program in the specialty of Canine/Feline Practice. This is a unique program at the College of Veterinary Medicine preparing the resident for specialty certification in Canine/Feline clinical practice. The residency program provides training in advanced canine and feline practice to include rotations in community practice, internal and specialty medicine (cardiology, dermatology, neurology), soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, radiology and emergency medicine. The resident will also participate in house officer rounds and seminars, and clinical and didactic instruction of veterinary students. The emphasis of the program is to provide advanced clinical and didactic training to prepare the candidate for American Board of Veterinary Practitioners board certification. Applicants must have completed a I-year rotating internship or equivalent practice experience. Starting salary is $37,284. They also perform spay/neuter procedures and are USDA accredited in order to prepare international health certificates. Primary care doctors interact and refer to other specialty services at the AMC for advanced and specialty care.
