Auburn University Seeks Farm Animal Field Service Faculty
The Department of Clinical Sciences at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full time, 12-month appointment in Farm Animal Service. Depending on experience, qualifications and interest, the successful candidate will be appointed to a Clinical Track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in the Food Animal Section with the main focus in field service. The selected individual will participate in clinical teaching and service within the farm animal section, didactic lectures and laboratories in the professional curriculum, and some intern, graduate and resident training. Qualifications: A DVM or equivalent degree is required at the time the appointment begins. Diplomate status or board eligibility in an appropriate specialty college (eg. American College of Theriogenology, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine – Large Animal, American College of Veterinary Surgeons – Large Animal, American Board of Veterinary Practitioners is desired but not required. We seek candidates with appropriate practice experience in individual animal medicine, herd health, and/or theriogenology. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Excellent communication skills are required. Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the state of Alabama and the state of Georgia is also required. The hospital has digital radiography and ultrasound, HESKA laboratory equipment, cold laser, portable endoscopy/gastroscopy, small animal dental equipment including digital radiology, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, and capabilities to perform regenerative therapies including Pro-Stride, PRP, and stem cell. We also offer acupuncture services. NTVH furnishes a fully stocked ambulatory pickup for emergency and farm calls for the associates. On-call is limited and shared on a rotating basis. The position will focus on clinical patient care, education of veterinary students, training of rotating interns, and supervision of veterinary nurses. Potential for collaborative research abounds, but advancement within this faculty track does not include a research requirement.
Candidates will have strong clinical skills in primary care medicine, surgery, and dentistry, as well as excellent communication and team-building skills, and will be expected to contribute to the visionary leadership in the Primary Care Service.
